Description
The 3D Printer Filament Runout Sensor Module is designed to detect the presence or absence of filament during a 3D printing job. When the filament runs out, the sensor sends a signal to the printer’s mainboard, allowing compatible firmware to pause the print. Once new filament is loaded, printing can resume, helping reduce the risk of incomplete prints caused by an empty filament spool.
Designed for 1.75mm filament, the sensor features a rotating funnel-style inlet and outlet to help guide filament smoothly through the detection module. Clearly marked filament direction makes installation easier and helps ensure the filament passes through the sensor correctly.
The module supports a supply voltage of 3.3V to 5V and can be connected to compatible Lerdge boards or other supported 3D printer controller boards. For boards other than Lerdge, the signal logic and firmware settings must be configured correctly for runout detection and automatic pause functionality.
