Description
The 12V DIY Battery Spot Welder PCB Module is a compact control board designed for building a portable energy-storage spot welding machine. It can be used for battery pack assembly and other projects where nickel strips need to be spot welded to compatible lithium battery cells.
The upgraded design features an automatic welding function. When the welding pen makes contact with the nickel strip, the controller can automatically trigger the welding pulse, eliminating the need to manually press a separate trigger switch.
The board also provides five adjustable welding levels, allowing the welding pulse to be adapted to different battery types and nickel strip thicknesses. This makes it more flexible than a basic fixed-output spot welding controller.
The circuit has been optimized for improved layout and practical DIY assembly. When connected to an appropriate high-current 12V–14.6V battery source, it can be used to create a portable battery spot welder for nickel strip welding.

Recommended Power Sources
A suitable high-current battery is essential for proper operation. Suggested power sources include:
- 20–45Ah lead-acid battery with good performance and low internal resistance
- 3.5–5.5Ah 45C 3S Li-Po battery pack
- 30–35Ah 18650 battery pack
The power source must be capable of delivering the high current required by the welding process. The supplied source recommends a battery capable of providing more than 90A.
Welding Applications
Depending on the power supply, wiring, battery condition, and welding settings, the module can be used for welding nickel strips approximately 0.1mm–0.15mm thick.
Suitable applications include:
- 18650 battery pack assembly
- 26650 battery pack assembly
- 32650 battery pack assembly
- Li-Po battery pack projects
- Lithium battery nickel strip welding
- DIY energy-storage battery packs
- Battery repair and fabrication projects
Important Notes
- 12V–14.6V high-current battery power supply is required; it is not included.
- The power source should be capable of delivering the required welding current. An inadequate battery may prevent proper welding.
- Welding performance depends on the battery, wiring, nickel strip thickness, connections, and selected welding level.
- The welding process involves very high current. Use appropriate wiring and secure connections.
- Keep the welding leads as short and suitable for high-current operation as practical.
- If using an unfamiliar battery configuration, verify the battery’s current capability before connecting it to the board.
- This is a DIY electronic module, not a complete ready-to-use spot welding machine.
