Description
The BC516 PNP Darlington Transistor is a high-gain bipolar transistor designed for electronic switching and signal amplification. Its Darlington configuration combines two transistor stages to provide very high current gain, allowing a relatively small base current to control a larger collector current.
Featuring a compact TO-92 through-hole package, the BC516 is useful in low-power electronic circuits, sensor interfaces, signal-control stages, and driver applications where high current gain is beneficial. Its PNP configuration makes it suitable for circuits designed to switch or control current on the positive supply side, provided the circuit is designed for the transistor’s polarity and electrical ratings.
The BC516 has a listed DC current gain of 30,000 and a maximum collector current of 1A. Actual performance depends on operating conditions, load requirements, and the manufacturer’s specifications. Because Darlington transistors typically have a higher base-emitter voltage drop than a single transistor, account for this when designing the circuit.
