Description
The DALY BMS 16S 48V 40A LiFePO4 Battery Management System is a protection and balancing board designed specifically for 16S LiFePO4 battery packs. It is suitable for battery packs made from 16 individual 3.2V LiFePO4 cells connected in series, providing a nominal battery-pack voltage of approximately 48V.
This BMS continuously monitors individual cell voltages and helps protect the battery pack against unsafe operating conditions. It supports a continuous discharge current of up to 40A and includes a balance function to help maintain more consistent voltage levels between cells.
LiFePO4 16S Battery Compatibility
This is a fixed 16S LiFePO4 BMS, so it is intended for battery packs containing 16 LiFePO4 cells in series. It should not be used with other battery chemistries such as standard Li-ion, Li-metal, or LTO batteries unless the BMS is specifically rated for that chemistry.
For a typical 16S LiFePO4 pack:

Multiple Protection Functions
The DALY BMS provides several protection features to help improve the safety and reliability of the battery pack:
- Overcharge protection: Helps prevent individual cells from being charged beyond the specified voltage.
- Over-discharge protection: Disconnects the battery when cell voltage drops below the protection threshold.
- Over-current protection: Helps protect the battery pack and BMS from excessive current.
- Short-circuit protection: Disconnects the output when a short-circuit condition is detected.
- Temperature protection: Provides protection against specified high- and low-temperature conditions.
- Cell balancing: Helps maintain more consistent voltage levels across the 16 cells.
Built-In Cell Balancing
The BMS features passive cell balancing with a balance current of approximately 30 ± 5mA. Balancing helps reduce voltage differences between individual cells during charging and can help maintain the overall performance of the battery pack.
Balance Wire and Temperature Sensor
The BMS includes a 17-wire balance/sense cable with connector for monitoring the individual cells in a 16S battery pack. A temperature sensor is also included for temperature-based protection.
